Around 1500 people gathered at the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame on Saturday night for the Australian Professional Rodeo Association (APRA) Queensland State Championship. With near perfect weather and great nominations, the crowd were entertained by some of the best rough stock & timed events riders on the APRA circuit.
Gary McPhee Contractors supplied some of the best rough stock on circuit including 2009 Bucking Bull of the year, ‘Matrix’ along with ‘Jane’ five times Bare Back Horse, and two times Saddle Bronc Horse of the year, and ‘Top Girl’, 2009 Saddle Bronco Horse of the yearand the crowd were far from disappointed with the non stop action.
Jared Borghero won the Bull Ride on a score of 85 points from Sonny Schafferius. Cody Angland won the Bare Back convincingly and tied for second in the Saddle Bronc with Andrew Turvey with Micheal Maher taking top honours for the event. Michael Stanley won the Rope and Tie with Karen Upton just pipping Wendy Caban in the Barrel Race. Rebecca Van Houten won the Breakaway Roping. Shane Iker and Clancy Middleton took top honours in the Team Roping.
In the Juniors Calla Matthews won the Junior Break Away Roping and the Barrel Race, Cameron Milner won the Junior Steer Ride.
