More than 170 riders saddled up for the 2010 Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame “Pink” ride in the Outback to raise approximately $29,000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation in Longreach on Saturday 26 June 2010.
Horses and riders decked out in various shades of pink to ride the 20kms from Longway Station to the Hall of Fame in Longreach.
The Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame CEO Ben Maguire said the “Pink” ride in the Outback was an enjoyable and rewarding day.
“The purpose of the “Pink” ride in the Outback is to help raise awareness and much needed funds for breast cancer research,” Maguire said. “I believe we achieved this while also having a great day in the saddle.”
“I was amazed at the turn out of riders and the generosity of those involved. This is the third year we have run such an event, and it’s great to see regular riders from previous years return, as well as some news faces coming along to the ride,” he said.
Riders congregated from all across Queensland and New South Wales to participate in the trail ride in Longreach.
Former Rugby League player, television sports presenter and ambassador for the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame, Shane Webcke was among the 170 riders.
Webcke said it was a privilege to participate in the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame “Pink” Ride in the Outback.
“I thoroughly enjoyed myself- what a fantastic day for horsemanship and a great day to raise money for a good cause!” he said.
Leonie Nunn, breast cancer survivor and 2010 Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame “Pink” Ride in the Outback event ambassador was also among the riders.
“The day ran smoothly and everyone had a great time,” Nunn said. “It was inspiring to see so many riders from all disciplines travel to Queensland to take part in this ride for charity.”
“Breast cancer affects thousands of Australians everyday, and I am honoured to have been an ambassador for this event,” she said.
Prue Fargher, event manager of the “Pink” ride in the Outback said the support for the 2010 event was terrific.
“The community of Longreach really got behind the “Pink” ride in the Outback. Thank you to all the riders, event volunteers, sponsors and in particular all the local businesses that once again railed to support such a great cause,” Fargher said.

“Pink” ride covered a course of 20kms. ALL proceeds were donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) following the day’s proceedings.
