The Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame and Outback Heritage Centre is proud to host John Rigby’s “The Stockman” art exhibition at the Hugh Sawrey Art Gallery. Exhibiting until end July 2010.
Born in 1955 John is an artist in the truest sense of the word. A painter of pictures in song, paint & canvas. Balancing a successful career as a professional exhibiting and commercial artist with his passion of song writing, singing, recording and performing. John has a history of expressing himself through most artistic forms. A dozen or more art exhibitions spanning over thirty five years including the touring “Billy tea” invitational for noted Australian Outback Artists.
Twenty eight works in water colour & acrylics will be on display at the Hall. The exhibition, titled “The Stockman”, is a result of his recent travels and research through Australia’s interior & desert country. The collection portrays The Stockman, men and women, past and present, back country pioneers who defied a harsh and sometimes cruel land and environment to lay down the backbone of Australia’s pastoral empire.
With this exhibit Rigby says he explores the aboriginality of The Stockman, the tenacity of The Drover, the patience of outback women & the loyalty of friend, horse and dog.
