Don’t miss a unique bush poetry experience taking place at the Cattlemen’s Bar and Grill, Bruce Yeates Memorial Cottage and gardens at the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame.

Longreach local, Quenton Scott, or better known as “Scotty”, will be performing daily poetry readings leaving from the R.M’s Cottage at 1pm (Saturday’s excluded).

Scotty has a strong passion for bush poetry and has been a member of the National Outback Performing Arts (NOPA) for over 10 years. “I’ve always been interested in poetry, loved poetry since school,” he said.

Beginning at the Cottage, Scotty explains the history and anecdotes of its construction. The tour continues on to the Quiet Place that has recently been built alongside the gardens. Scotty works his way through the gardens reciting poems related to the statues nestled in the trees such as the ‘Women of the West’ and ‘Men of the Open Spaces’.

The cost of the 30 minute tour is $2 per person. Scotty’s poetry welcome offers another way for visitors of the Hall of Fame to experience and understand the tales behind the memorials and statues on the grounds that are sometimes overlooked when visiting the Hall.
